Solemn Mass in the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy (REVISED)

The Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph invites you all to a SOLEMN MASS (MISSA SOLEMNIS or "MISA DE TRES") according to the 1962 Missal to be offered tomorrow, 2:00 P.M, in the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy. The Mass will be that of the Feast of Christ the King according to the Roman liturgical calendar before the reform of 1969-1970.

This is the fifth time that a Solemn Mass would be offered in the parish since Summorum Pontificum came into effect on September 14, 2007. The previous Solemn Masses had been on June 29, 2008 (see also this article), September 14, 2008 (a Solemn Pontifical Mass from the faldstool offered by Msgr. Camilo Gregorio, Prelate of Batanes; see this and this), October 26, 2008 and November 30, 2008

Paschal Vigil of 2011 witnessed a "Semi-Solemn Mass" or Solemn Mass without subdeacon as allowed for Holy Week in the Missal of 1962.

The new altar rail of the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy and Mass for October 23

Last week the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy (PLDM) installed a new altar rail, which can be seen in the pictures below of the parish TLM for Sunday, October 23, 2011. Fr. Zerrudo also had an altar rail made for the Parish of the Most Holy Redeemer in Masambong, Quezon City, during his stint there as parish priest.

The EDSSJ procession of reparation of August 14, 2011

One of the most memorable actions of the Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph in recent years has been the organization of a procession of reparation to the Cultural Center of the Philippines, in atonement for the blasphemous art works that had been put on display there.

Wilfredo "Jay" Balza of Veritatem Facientes in Caritate posted a full report (with photographs) on this event on the very day that the procession took place, and we would like to invite our readers who haven't previously learned about this event to read his report: Procession and Prayer of Reparation for a blasphemous art exhibit

Mass in the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy, October 16, 2011

Pictures for today's Mass in Divine Mercy Parish haven't been uploaded yet on Facebook. In the meantime, here are some pictures of the Sunday TLM that was offered in the previous Sunday by Fr. Michell Joe B. Zerrudo in that same church, which he currently pastors. The "Tridentine" Mass is said in this parish on almost all weekdays and Saturdays at around 8:30 a.m., and on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. The pictures were taken by Mr. Dennis Raymond Maturan -- founder of Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph -- and were originally published on his Facebook page.

This blog...

... will, for the meantime, act as the official website of Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph, a lay community of Roman Catholics in the Philippines who are greatly attracted to to the pre-Vatican II forms of the Latin Rites of the Roman Catholic Church. Among these forms, the best well-known and far and away the most widespread at this time is the "Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite" (see Summorum Pontificum, its accompanying letter, and its authoritative interpretation) which properly refers to the form of the Roman Rite that is celebrated according to the 1962 edition of the Roman Missal (see also this webpage). It is popularly referred to as the "Tridentine Rite".

The organization now known as Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph was officially founded on December 18, 1987 after preparations that began in 1986. However, it currently takes its name from the Apostolic Letter Ecclesia Dei Adflicta promulgated by Pope John Paul II on July 2, 1988. Through many vicissitudes, and always maintaining obedience to the diocesan authorities, this society managed to preserve the celebration of the "Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite" in the Archdiocese of Manila and, after 2002, in the Diocese of Cubao.  I's current home is the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy in the Diocese of Cubao, where the parish priest -- Fr. Michell Joe B. Zerrudo -- celebrates the "Extraordinary Form" Mass daily.

In 2010, Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph was formally accepted by Foederatio Internationalis Una Voce as its first (and, so far, its only) affiliated organization in the Philippines.
